Real Estate Wiki is the largest, free online content encyclopedia in the real estate industry for home buyers and sellers, home owners and the millions of people that work in the real estate and related industries.

Real Estate Wiki was originally written by a group of dedicated real estate professionals to create a comprehensive resource for the real estate industry. This comprehensive resource was created because no other wiki delves deeply enough into the real estate industry.

With real estate being one of the largest industries in the world with over 30 million consumers search for homes to buy or places to rent every year it was felt that a wiki dedicated to real estate was necessary.

Real Estate Wiki is a privately funded, non-profit venture. We have no special allegiance to any one company and will not tolerate discrimination, slander, negativity or narrow-mindedness and any form as well as no pornography or sexually related material. Similar to Wikipedia, Real Estate Wiki relies on volunteers from around the U.S. to contribute to the ongoing creation, improvement and updating of content.  Later on we will expand to cover contributions from around the world.

After more than a year of research and writing, Real Estate Wiki was beta launched in December 2007 with some 7,000 real estate specific articles, definitions, acronyms, biographies and FAQs about the real estate industry and the home buying process.

Because Real Estate Wiki is an ongoing work that is based upon the principle that anyone can contribute. However, the goal is to keep the site free from press releases, unwarranted self promotion, slander and vandalism. We know this is a daunting task and hope that with your support we can all build Real Estate Wiki into a valuable, meaningful and free resource for everyone to use.
