Chairman Federal Reserve Board
Sworn in as the chairman and a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in February 2006. Received a bachelor's degree in economics from Harvard University in 1975 and a doctorate in economics in 1979 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He served as Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University since 1985 and from 1996-2002 served as Chairman of Princeton's Economics Department. In June 2005, he was elected Chairman of the President's Council of Economic Advisers and served as a member of the Board of Governors for the Fed for about three years prior to this appointment.
