In 1828, Citizens Financial Group got its start as a small community bank called the High Street Bank in Providence, Rhode Island.

Today, Citizens Financial Group has $159 billion in assets, making it one of the 10-largest commercial bank holding companies in the United States when ranked by assets and deposits. Owned by RBS, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc, the group has branches in 13 states, including Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont and Rhode Island. The group also has non-branch retail and commercial offices in about 40 states.
