In order to save time when applying for a loan, provide as much of the required documentation when you meet the lender for the first time.  Thus, bring copies of your W-2s and employment history for the last two years, including contact information for verification.  In addition, you want to provide copies of pay check stubs for the last 30 days, as well as an explanation in writing for any gaps in employment. Self-employed individuals should provide complete copies of their federal tax returns for the last two years along with a year-to-date profit and loss statement and a current balance sheet.
