How Do I Assess A Neighborhood?
Category - Home Buying FAQ's - Search & Offer

When you find the area and neighborhood you like, drive around and even walk the area.  Consider what it feels like, what does it look like from street level, are the neighbors friendly, are there stores and recreation facilities close by?  Any parks, grocery stores or restaurants? You should also contact the local school board, even if you do not have children.  Find out how the schools are rated, are there private schools nearby?  Talk to the local real estate professional that dominates the area – there is always one or two that are consider the neighborhood expert.
