How Do I Inform The Buyer If The Closing Needs To Be Postponed?

Your agent should prepare a written notification to the buyer indicating the change.  Most purchase contracts typically include an automatic 7-day built-in extension clause to provide for usual delays related to loan approval.  If the closing must be postponed past the initial 7-day period, both parties must agree in writing.
