J. Philip Faranda is the principal broker and owner of two real estate brokerage firms, Westchester-based J. Philip Real Estate LLC and Home Trek Realty LLC of Long Island. He is a native of Ossining, NY. He was educated at John F Kennedy Catholic High School where he was a standout on the wrestling team, and he earned a BA in English from Villanova University in 1989. While at Villanova, he was a 4-year member of the rowing crew as a coxswain, served on the freshman orientation staff for 3 years, and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
After 7 years as a sales manager for Clifton, NJ- based Educationa Aids Publishing, he embarked on his real estate career at Home Safari LTD in Rochester, NY. He was at Home Safari from 1996 until 2001, when he relocated back to Ossining and became a mortgage loan officer. Mr. Faranda wed the former Ann Lee of Rego Park, NY in September of 2001. They reside in Briarcliff Manor, NY and have 4 children: Luke, Catherine, Gregory and Mark. They are communicants at St Augustine Catholic Church in Eagle Point, Ossining.
He started J. Philip Estate out of a spare bedroom in mid-2005. Despite a declining market, Phil sold 30 homes in 2006 and was the Westchester-Putnam MLS system's top agent for 1-4 unit homes sold in 2007 with 59 closed transactions for a volume of over $29 million.
Faranda's second brokerage firm, Home Trek Realty, was started in April of 2006 to participate in the MLS of Long Island. Despite no local office on the Island and one part-time associate, 2007 sales amounted to 23 closed transactions for a volume of over $8 million.
Mr Faranda is licensed in both New York and Connecticut, subscribes to a total of 6 MLS systems and belongs to 3 REALTOR boards. In 2007 his J. Philip Real Estate firm was admitted to the Better Business Bureau of New York.
