PolicyMap is a new online mapping tool created by The Reinvestment Fund, a non-profit leader in the financing of community revitalization. PolicyMap houses over 4,000 indicators related to real estate, education, money and income, demographics, mortgage originations and more.
Our data on mortgage originations comes from the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) for the years 2004, 2005 and 2006. As soon as HMDA releases mortgage data for 2007, we will load this into PolicyMap as well.
You can see the HMDA data mapped all the way down to a census tract for any part of the country that interests you. Go to the website, select Mortgage Originations and any of the indicators underneath from the Add Data Layer pull-down menu. The map will refresh. Double click to zoom in on the area of the map in which you are interested or enter a location in the Set Location bar at the top of the page. |
