Stefan Swanepoel, Dennis Galloway & Kenneth Jenny RealSure 2001
The real estate report Real Estate Confronts the Banks details the extensive debate about the Glass-Steagall Act and changes made by the Federal Reserve System and the Treasury to soften some of the act’s separation provisions. This report covers the proposed legislation in 2001 that recommended the removal of the separation of commercial and investment banking entirely, thereby allowing banks to enter the real estate brokerage industry. This has been opposed by the National Association of Realtors® but supported by the American Bankers Association. |
