Richard Smith is the Chairman and CEO of Realogy (formerly called Cendant), the parent company for Coldwell Banker, Century 21, ERA, Sotheby’s International Realty, and Better Homes & Gardens as well NRT Inc. Smith has not only overseen the significant organic growth of Cendant’s real estate companies during the last decade but also played a leading role in the creation of three new companies in his tenure.  During 1997-1998, he was responsible for consolidating three of the relocation industry’s largest players into a single new entity, Cendant Mobility.  In late 1997, he was instrumental in the creation of NRT Incorporated, a joint venture between Cendant and Apollo Management L.P.  which has since acquired more than 100 brokerages and is by now the largest owner and operator of residential real estate offices in the nation.
