Real Estate Salesperson:  Must be at least 18 years of age and have to complete 60 hours of approved real estate courses, plus passing the State and National portions of the salesperson examination.

Continued education:  Complete requirements available on website.

Broker applicants:  Must be 18 years of age and have to successfully complete 180 classroom hours of approved real estate broker pre-licensing courses. The broker pre-licensing courses are either broker-specific or broker-related. The maximum credit allowed for a single broker-specific course is 60 hours, and the maximum credit allowed for a single broker-related course is 45 hours.  The applicant for the broker license needs to provide proof of having been actively engaged as a salesperson for 36 of the 48 preceding months.

Reciprocal license recognition & Non-residents:   All reciprocity applicants are required to take the Virginia state portion of the real estate exams before they can practice real estate in Virginia.
