There are simple ways in which anyone can improve their sales acumen. Things like:
- make eye contact
- smile
- use the telephone effectively (smile while you talk, a smile can be heard)
- use email effectively (be concise, provide enough information but keep some in your pocket – manage the information you share at a time)
- Dress for Success
- Give out your cell phone number, for easier access by your clients. Many cellular providers offer free incoming calls. Buy a program, which allows you to use your cell phone effectively, without breaking the bank
- Minimize and manage your emotions
- Get back to your clients promptly
- Keep old clients and relationships alive
- Be generous and sincere with compliments
- Be open to meeting new people
- Carry your business cards everywhere and be sure to share them as much as you can (do not be a secret agent!)
- Carry a pen or pencil with you, to make notes and write down prospects’ information
- Drive yourself. Make a plan to support your clients (present and future). Educate yourself about your area, city, county, state, etc.
- Ask questions
- Get the word out. Send your information to your sphere of influence on a consistent basis
- Follow up, follow up, follow up
