The tenant is responsible for maintaining the property in the same condition it was received and to promptly notify the landlord of any dangerous condition or need for maintenance existing on the property at any time.
In addition, most lease agreement require the tenant to maintain the lawn and exterior of the property (in the case of a home); maintain pest control (this may be stated as the landlord’s responsibility in many lease agreements); maintain all smoke detectors functioning properly and take the necessary steps to prevent the freezing of pipes. |
