What background information will the property owner ask for?
Category - Home Ownership Questions - Lease & Renting FAQ's

Typically, the property owner will require a copy of your credit report, personal and business references, prior rental history, employment and credit related information. You may also be asked to consent to a credit and background check. This information tells the property owner whether the prospective tenant is likely to be considerate and responsible and whether he or she has a police record.

Among others, an application form will include the following key provisions:

  • Name and contact information of the applicant.
  • Rental History: Provides previous rental information
  • Spouse Information: Where applicable, provides information on spouse who potentially would live in the rental property
  • Vehicle: Provides the information on any vehicles being parked at the rental property
  • Pets: Where applicable, identifies any animals that would live in the rental unit
  • Employer: Employment information of applicant
  • Credit history
