Whose signatures must be on the lease?
Category - Home Ownership FAQ's - Lease & Renting
The lease must be signed by the property owner because the courts consider the lease as a conveyance of real estate. When the lessor holds his or her interest in severalty, most states require the spouse to join in signing the lease if there is any dower interest. The lease must not be signed by the tenant or lessee, although it is a good practice for the tenant to sign the lease.
